Description
The Spawn of Holistic more-or-less how they appear in Spearbreakers.

FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW WHAT THESE ARE:

Back in the days of 40d, Something Awful ran a succession fort called Syrupleaf. Like every succession fort, it was an utterly awesome and insane clusterfuck of mismanagement and collaborative storytelling that you should probably go read right now (I'll wait).

Cutting to the chase -- they decided that, in order to make the game a little harder, they would add a hostile civilization made up of the nastiest things their twisted little minds could come up with, which turned out to be an undead midget that knows not pain nor fear and has a mouth that sort of looks like lady bits, named in reference to the events of the finale of Headshoots (another Something Awful succession fort that you should probably go read, even if you already have). They were fast and hard-to-kill and could bite dwarves in half through steel armour.

A couple years later, Splint approached me with an idea for a succession fort and said that he wanted to include the Spawn as a nod to Syrupleaf. Thus, Holistic's children were once again summoned forth to terrorize the land, with some minor improvements.


Spawn do not bleed, nor do they have a functioning brain. Their mouthparts are attached to their upper torso, so they can continue to attack even after all of their limbs or removed. The only way to kill them is by bisection, piercing their obsidian hearts, or beheading (and I'm considering removing their vulnerability to beheading, as it doesn't make much sense when one considers that their heads don't actually contain anything they can't do without). They can bite and claw through metal armour, so layer up for victory!

Spawn arrive to attack fairly early -- roughly at the same time as goblins. I'm not sure whether to change this.

Changes for V2.0:

- Added Greater Spawn as a Circus clown. For full effect, turn Demon Number to 0 when generating your world.

- Stopped Spawn from dying when decapitations.
