On my second evil embark (first one I died too quickly to even delve lodgings), I made the error of shearing a ram I'd brought with me. The wool immediately went on the attack, and was immediately "killed" by my farmer. After which it rose again and resumed the attack. This time it couldn't be hit and several dwarves passed out from exhaustion during the fight. I tried putting everyone into a civilian alert burrow to get them to disengage so I could build cage traps. Once I removed the alert, I then found that my mechanic refused to move from the tile he was standing on. Putting him into a squad and telling him to station resulted in "soldier - unreachable target" message.
