***************** ** GLASSKIN - 'G' - Playable Race ** AUTHOR: nossr50 [nossr50@gmail.com] (ProgrammerDorf !!2lv6mGnWIkw on /vg/) ** VERSION: 00.00.04 ** RELEASE DATE 12/30/2013 ** NEW VERSIONS WHERE?: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=134850.0 ***************** Installation -Put all the .txt files from /raw/objects/ into Main /YOUR_DF_DIRECTORY/raw/objects/ -Overwrite existing conflicts -Generate a new world -Play in either Fortress or Adventure (This mod is INTENDED for Adventure) -Pick Glasskin as your civ (only works for Adventure) !! If you don't see glasskin it's possible the civilization has died out, generate another map !! Description Glasskin are designed to be a high risk high rewards playable character for adventure mode. Playing a human/dwarf/elf was getting a bit vanilla, and playing as a night creature was getting tiresome. Glasskin work mostly by their custom tissue layers and creature tags, they are basically walking glass cannons. If you can live long enough to hit the stat caps, you will be incredibly powerful. Features Glasskind civilization -Will settle exclusively in Deserts -Behave similarly to humans (for now) -Will populate/spread out in fewer numbers than dwarves/goblins/humans/elves/etc Glasskin playable race -Sized similarly to humans (can wear what they can wear) -Stat growth caps 50% higher than humans -Stat medians around humans (meaning that if you are 'average' you will be about the same stats as a human) -Extraordinary Glasslike biology -Sandgas replaces the fat and cartilage tissue layers -Sandgas escapes the body if the layers above it are significantly damaged -Sandgas can cause enemy lungs to fail rarely, otherwise causes pain and bleeding some of the time -Won't hurt poison immune creatures or other glasskin -Sharper nails (5x increase from defaults which is about half as sharp as a copper blade for reference) -No need to eat/drink -Resistant to high temperatures and fire (but not VERY high like dragons breath) -Cannot get infections/rot -Glassbones -Break from the slightest impact -This makes blows to your ribs and head extremely dangerous -Heal very slowly (2x slower than normal) -Harvested bones worth 10x higher value than humanoids (can be used in crafting) -Glass skin -Extremely resistant to being strangled (Could you strangle someone made of glass? THOUGHT SO!) -Resistant to being cut, you will take blunt force impact damage instead which can lead to your bones taking the full force of the impact. -Immune to being webbed Thoughts: As you can see glasskin are both powerful and weak at the same time. they have defensive mechanisms yet even a kobold could smash your brains in. It's up to you to play carefully. Shout out to the people on Bay12 forums who helped me with my problems making this mod. A lot of the features of this race are for flavour/coolness. I tried to keep it balanced. If you wanted a vanilla experience go play as a human By the way this was made in 2 days so it's not FULLY TESTED for balance. I'll be updating this again (probably).
