Backstory

Colonisation: Year 3000 is a Dwarf Fortress Modification being created by Azkanan.

In the year 2826, an unclaimed planet that had been in the terraforming process was declared ready for colonization. Sleeper ships were soon launched, for the ownership of the planet was truly contested by every major power on Earth. Seventeen sleeper ships from seventeen nations were launched and arrived in the Year 3000.
World Gen is when the game begins, and when you join the struggle is down to you. Be one of the first off the ship, or join in a few hundred years later.
The planet was terraformed with native Earth Fauna and Flora, so expect Maple and Oak tree forests, deers and ants, wolves and tigers.

Most nations do not wish to endanger war on Earth, so they hire relatively cheap mercenaries and pirates to ambush newly forming colonies. If you somehow survive these petty attempts, expect your anonymous enemies to send unregistered robotic armies later on.

However, you are not defenceless; far from it. The technology of the future is within your grasp! From handguns and hammers - shit, if you find yourself ambushed in the mines, use your powerdrill if you have to - to hefty Laser and Antimatter Machineguns. Pulse Artillery, Turret Emplacements, Sonic Deflectors and Powersaws are just a few possibilities of your arsenal.

Your colony's history is sure to be bloody.

But, to make these weapons of destruction, you will have to dig deep into the planet's crust and pull out its metals and secrets. Fossil Fuels, such as coal, are not native to this planet, so you will have to rely on Solargenerators, Hydrogenerators and hand-made energy packs to power your industry.

So, colonist. What will you do? Will you openly bait your competitors into glorious battles on your ground of choosing, or form a trading center, a jewel on this new planet?
